Introduction

Welcome, ThinkAd users, non-users, and soon-to-be users 😉! This is the Internet's very first guide to removing all third-party access to your Amazon account. After searching the web, we realized there wasn't a single manual that shows advertisers how to fully cut ties with all platforms, so we decided to create one ourselves.

If you were previously optimizing your ads using another software, it's crucial to remove all third-party access to ensure that old automations don't interfere with your ThinkAd campaigns (or any other software campaigns if you're switching campaign management services). Doing so will save you from potential issues down the road, where software conflicts could cause unpredictable changes to your campaigns. Additionally, revoking all access is recommended if you decide to stop using any advertising tools altogether.

Connecting your Amazon account to an advertising integrator may involve linking one or more APIs, including the Amazon Advertising API (AAA) and the Selling Partner API (SP-API). Below, we'll explain the relevance of each to your account type and provide instructions on how to disconnect them.

To fully disconnect an integrator, follow these 4 steps.

How to Remove All Third-Party Access To Your Account

1️⃣ Revoke Access From The Amazon Advertising API (AAA)

The Amazon Advertising API allows integrators to access and modify advertising campaigns for sellers, vendors, and KDP authors. This is the most crucial step and applies to all advertisers!

Click here to sign in with your account, then click remove. (Click here to remove if you have a Japanese account.) Please note that if you are an agency managing multiple accounts, you may risk disconnecting the AAA for all accounts connected to ThinkAd.

Locate the integrator you wish to remove (e.g., ThinkAd) and click the Remove button.

2️⃣ Disconnect Seller Partner API (SP-API)

🚨Note: This step only applies to sellers, not vendors or KDP authors.🚨

The SP-API is an API that integrators use to access retail data, including product details, inventory levels, and orders. While it doesn't allow integrators to view or modify advertising campaigns, it's still a good idea to complete this step if you want to fully disconnect access.

  • Go to Seller Central ➡️ Main Menu ➡️ Apps and Services ➡️ Manage Your Apps.

  • Find the integrator you want to remove and click Disable Authorization

3️⃣ Remove Advertising Console Access

Some integrators or agencies may request console access or "UI" access to either your Seller Central account or Amazon advertising account. If this rings a bell, follow the steps below.

Sellers

For sellers, the best way to do this is via Seller Central.

  • Go to Seller Central ➡️ Settings ➡️ User Permissions.

  • Find the user you want to remove and click on the Delete button.

Vendors and KDP Authors

For vendors and KDP Authors, this would be done via the Amazon Advertising console.

  • Go to Amazon Advertising Console ➡️ Access and settings ➡️ Users

  • Find the user you want to remove and click on the Remove user link

4️⃣ Remove Manager Account Access

Some integrators or agencies may request console access or "UI" via an Advertising Manager Account. If this sounds familiar, follow the steps below. This step may apply to sellers, vendors, and authors alike.

  • Go to Amazon Advertising Console ➡️ Access and settings ➡️ Manager Accounts

  • Find the manager account you want to remove and click on the Remove access link
