Introduction
The Ignore List is a powerful tool designed to help you cut out the noise in your advertising campaigns. When you enable the Ignore List feature in your optimization settings, our algorithm begins to monitor and assess the performance of each target (such as a keyword or product). If the algorithm determines that a target is no longer worth optimizing, based on its performance, it will automatically add that target to the Ignore List and stop optimizing it permanently.
Additionally, any target that is added to the Ignore List will be automatically turned off, ensuring that no further resources are wasted on it.
Why Is This Important?
The Ignore List helps you focus your ad spend on what’s working and avoid wasting money on what isn’t. Here’s how it works:
Avoid Re-Activating Poor Performers: If a target has been paused because it didn’t perform well, the Ignore List ensures it doesn’t get reactivated unless you decide otherwise.
Stop Spending on Targets with No Traffic: If a target hasn’t generated any clicks or sales for a set period, it’s likely not worth your money. The Ignore List helps you stop spending on these targets.
The Different Types of Ignore Lists
The Ignore List serves as a log of "undesirable" targets, helping the Bid Optimizer determine which targets should no longer be optimized. Here’s why each type of Ignore List is important:
1. Preventing the Re-activation of Poor-Performing Targets:
Why: Targets that have been paused for more than 7 days due to poor performance are added to the Ignore List to prevent their re-activation. If a target has consistently underperformed, re-activating it is likely to waste your budget without generating meaningful returns. By automatically adding these poor-performing targets to the Ignore List, we ensure that your ad spend is focused on more promising keywords or products, thereby optimizing the overall effectiveness of your campaigns.
2. Avoiding Resource Wastage on Targets Without Traffic:
Targets with no clicks for 7 consecutive days:
Why: If a target receives no clicks for 7 consecutive days, it indicates that there’s little to no traffic being generated for that keyword or product. This could be due to low search volume or poor ad placement. Continuing to optimize and bid on such targets would be inefficient, as they are not attracting any audience. By adding these targets to the Ignore List, we prevent further investment in keywords or products that aren’t generating any traffic, allowing you to focus on those that do.
Targets with no orders for 14 consecutive days:
Why: Even if a target is receiving clicks, if it hasn’t resulted in any orders over a 14-day period, it suggests that while there may be some traffic, it’s either not converting into sales or the market size is too small to justify continued investment. This could indicate issues with product appeal, pricing, or competition. Adding these targets to the Ignore List prevents further ad spend on non-converting or low-potential targets, helping to improve your overall return on ad spend (ROAS).
What If I Want to Give a Target Another Chance?
If you believe a target deserves another chance, you can easily remove it from the Ignore List by reactivating it. This gives you control over which targets you focus on, ensuring your campaigns stay effective.
Clearing the Ignore List
There are two simple ways to clear the Ignore List:
Update Your Settings: You can reset your Ad Group settings by turning off the Ignore List feature and then turning it back on. This will remove targets from the Ignore List.
Manually Activate Targets: If you decide a target is worth revisiting, just reactivate it, and it will be removed from the Ignore List.
